Dan Blaze
Dan has spent a lot of time over the past 16 years ministering to people in need. Dan and his wife Gina’s vision for the next generation has helped create the New England Prayer Center (NEPC), whose mission is to strengthen the faith-based community predominantly through prayer and educational opportunities. NEPC seeks to serve as a resource and point of connection in support of churches, church leaders, and lay members regardless of denominational affiliation.
Dan and Gina have helped many during family crises and tragedies, encouraged people in their faith, and inspired hope. Dan has traveled to disaster areas, such as helping victims of a tsunami to rebuild their village. Dan also has a very creative talent in stone masonry, a trade in which he has worked for over 30 years. Dan & Gina live in Easton with their two children, Dan (18), and Lindsay (23).
Tom Casey

Paul Veerman
Paul lives in Milford, CT with his wife of almost 40 years. They have three grown children and six grandchildren. His family is a source of great blessing in his life. He is a longtime member of the Covenant Church of Easton and over the years has been involved in many organizations. Some of his activities include past president of Bridgeport Rotary Club, elected official on the Monroe Board of Finance, past Chairman of his church and so on. Presently he is active in the New England Prayer Center, Angel Food ministry, chairman of the mission’s committee, teaches adult Sunday School and sings in the choir.
Paul works for the American Bible Society as their regional advisor and consults for the New England Prayer Center. As an incurable entrepreneur, Paul’s work history is vast. For most of his adult life he owned and operated five different businesses in and around the Bridgeport area. However, having a “half time” experience, he was called into ministry working five years at The Children’s Home as the Director of Development and then moving on as a major gifts officer with Wheaton College (a place dear to his family) and then to ABS.
One of Paul’s favorite verses is Habakkuk 2:14 “For the earth will be filled with the knowledge of the glory of the LORD, as the waters cover the sea.”
Craig Mengel - In Memorium
Craig Mengel (1953-2008) lived in Westport, CT for almost 15 years with his wife of 28 years, Claudia, and his two (now grown) daughters, Sarah and Rebecca. Craig had a heart for God, His Word and a desire to serve and minister to others. Craig and his family were members of Norfield Congregational Church for over 15 years. He and Claudia chaired the 100thanniversary celebration of the Norfield Fair, he sat on the Board of Deacons from 2001-2004, and on the pastoral search committee from 2003-2004. Craig led Norfield’s first three Mission trips to Ecuador, where a group of approximately 20 individuals spent two weeks working on the construction site of a soon to be medical center in one of the poorest neighborhoods of Quito. Additionally, Craig has served with the South African Mission Trips.
Craig was an entrepreneur by trade, and supported many Christian ministries such as, The Bridgeport Rescue Mission, The C Project, New Canaan Society, Tres Dias, and his cancer support group. He also worked closely with his wife, Claudia, to promote her career as an artist (www.claudiamengelart.com). He was ordained as a UCC minister the spring before he passed away and was honored to serve as a clergy at large. When his daughters asked him, “What is the best advice you can give?” He answered “Know God’s Word and keep a strong faith. God will provide all things.” We remember Craig’s “…work of faith, and labour of love, and patience of hope in our Lord Jesus Christ, in the sight of God and our Father;” (I Thes. 1:3).
