What's this I hear about Jim Lane being on sabbatical?
Yes, Jim is on sabbatical through the end of the year and is enjoying a much-needed break from all of our e-mails and calls!
Below is the announcement that was sent out by the NCS Board in July 2009:
Jim Lane - Six-Month Sabbatical
Dear Brudders,
The Board of NCS is pleased to announce that Jim Lane and his immediate family (sorry Tom, no break for you) will be taking a six-month sabbatical from NCS, through the end of 2009. After 15 years (the first nine of which involved hosting up to 200+ men in their home every Friday morning), the Lane's will be getting a well-deserved and long-overdue rest. Jim's sabbatical request was accepted with the full and enthusiastic support and encouragement of the NCS Board (and we told him he could have another in 2024 assuming this one goes smoothly). Jim's request came at a very good time, with the new Board in place for a year, the successful 2009 Retreat behind us and the plans for the 2010 Retreat well underway.
During this time, WE NEED YOUR HELP to make sure the break is really a break - please don't call or e-mail Jim with NCS business or questions (it's going to be hard enough getting him to really get away). On Jim's recommendation, the Board has asked Paul Michalski, an NCS Board member and leader of the NCS New Canaan chapter, to assume day-to-day operating responsibility for NCS. Paul has graciously agreed to take on those responsibilities during Jim's time off. Paul's e-mail address is pmichalski@newcanaansociety.org and his phone number is (646) 275-7500.
We wish Jim, Susie and their daughters all God's blessings during this period of refreshment and rejuvenation.
Sincerely,
NCS Board of Directors
