There are few better ways to start the day than with some thoughtful reflections on a passage or word of scripture that tie the Biblical teaching to circumstances we face in today's world.  While this is by no means an exhaustive list of the good devotionals out there, they are some that many NCS brudders look to daily for guidance and inspiration.

If you go to your "My Account" page, you can even add one to your NCS home page.

If there is another devotional you think we should consider adding to this page, please contact us.

The following list contains the Devotionals listed on the New Canaan Society website.

Oswald Chambers: My Utmost for His Highest

This has long been the "official" devotional of NCS.  The messages are as relevant today as they were 100 years ago.

Oswald Chambers (1874-1917) was a Scottish minister and teacher whose teachings on the life of faith and abandonment to God have endured to this day.  My Utmost for His Highest is a collection of his teachings compiled by his wife into a daily devotional format.

Joe Stowell: Daily Strength
Joe Stowell has been a regular NCS speaker and serves as the president of Cornerstone University in Grand Rapids, Michigan.  From 1987-2005, he served as the president of Moody Bible Institute, and as teaching pastor at the 10,000-member Harvest Bible Chapel in suburban Chicago from 2005 to early 2008 prior to assuming the presidency at Cornerstone University.
Skip Moen: Today's Word
Skip Moen is an NCS guy and a real friend.  In addition to being a regular NCS speaker, Skip was involved in writing or reviewing much of the content of the NCS website as well as the NCS Chapter Playbook in order to capture the "spirit" of NCS.

In this devotional, Skip is committed to recovering the intent of God's scriptures, one Hebrew or Greek word at a time.  Through his sometimes funny, sometimes hard-hitting style and in-depth analysis, Skip sheds new light on the "translations" of scripture we have been reading for years and makes them relevant to life today. Some have described his devotional as "Oswald Chambers on steroids".
Ron Hutchcraft: A Word With You
Ron Hutchcraft is a good friend of NCS and a regular NCS speaker.  He is committed to communicating the Gospel of Jesus Christ to the lost in their language and to motivating and equipping believers to communicate Christ to the lost in their world. In all he does, he seeks to reach the lost and the young with the life-changing message of Jesus Christ.
Rick Warren: The Daily Purpose
In this devotional, Pastor Rick Warren discusses the Bible passages that inspire him the most. Each devotional is themed around one of the five purposes for your life:
  • Worship
  • Discipleship
  • Fellowship
  • Ministry
  • Evangelism
Os Hillman: Today God Is First
This devotional will provide daily insights into living your faith in the marketplace.

Os and Angie Hillman have encouraged thousands of men and women to seek God's calling on their own lives as it relates to their vocation and to view their work as ministry. Their ministry, Marketplace Leaders, was founded to help men and women fulfill their calling and purpose in their work and life.
Jon Walker: Grace Creates
Grace Creates teaches the Good News that: we were created to let God work through us, not for us to work, or live, independent of him; we can’t reach God’s standards by cleaning ourselves up, or by serving 24/7; only God can do the work for us that will re-create us holy; and our sufficiency is in Christ, and nothing else. We can’t, but God can.
